Putin: Russia’s national goals stand in spite of all difficulties

SOCHI, Sep 28 (PRIME) – Russia will not change its goals in spite of the difficulties that the current situation creates, President Vladimir Putin said on Monday at a meeting of the State Council Presidium.

“I would like to point out at once that all our national goals remain the same in spite of all difficulties of today,” he said, reiterating that there are five key directions.

“The directions are to preserve the health and well-being of people, to create a comfortable and safe environment for living, to strengthen the economy and to open new opportunities for self-fulfillment of citizens, and to introduce digital technologies widely and routinely.”

Improvement of the quality of life is the key guideline for evaluation of efficiency of the federal and regional authorities, he said.

It would be wrong to delay fulfillment of the goals of the national projects to after 2024.

“A high-quality and palpable result should be ensured already in 2021. I would like to point out that no one should delay solution of tough and systemic issues for later … because it happens like the saying goes ‘later never arrives’. We need to push forward with the work,” he said.

He called for the Russians to comply with all restrictive measures connected to the coronavirus pandemic so that the country avoids a return to a serious lockdown again.

He also said that the government’s support of demand for housing was efficient, there should not be any ungrounded hikes in prices for housing.
